About Aberdour Festival
About Aberdour Festival
One wee village. One massive party.
Aberdour Festival is a community arts festival on the Fife coast, run from start to finish by the people who live here. For 2026 we are taking our lead from the Commonwealth Games coming to Scotland and throwing our own version. Less elite athletics, more comedy, live music and welly-tossing.
How a wee village ends up with its own Games
It started the way most good things in Aberdour do, with a few folk, a cup of tea and an idea that got a bit out of hand. Nine days every August the whole village pitches in: the halls, the beaches, the boat club, the bowling green and the big marquee all turn into venues.
The result is a programme of more than ninety events, from comedy nights and ceilidhs to sandcastle competitions and the legendary Donkey Brae Races. Something for everyone, run by everyone.
Run by the village, for the village
100% volunteer-run
Every event is organised and staffed by people who live here. No agencies, no outside production company, just neighbours who fancy putting on a show.
A Scottish charity
Aberdour Festival is a Scottish charity. Any money raised goes straight back into next year's programme and the community that makes it happen.
Ten days, every August
The festival runs across the first full week of August, building from the opening weekend to a closing crescendo of music, sport and questionable face paint.
Want in?
The festival only happens because people give their time, their venues and their support. There is a job for everyone, and most of them come with tea.
