This year we celebrate 40 years since the first Aberdour Festival, our much-loved 10 day community event. It is because of the amazing generosity of our community, in terms of time, energy, commitment, enthusiasm, as well as skills and expertise, that this village is able to put together such an amazing 10 day event in the Summer.

The committee have worked hard again this year, to bring together a packed programme of music, talks, sport, dance, literature and the visual arts, and we sincerely hope that you will find there is something for everyone!

Along with our celebrations of 40 years of the festival, we have chosen the theme ‘Iconic 80s’ for our Festival Parade, where we begin our Festival as we follow the newly crowned Royal Party as they travel through the village to the wonderful Beach Day! Obviously, the sun will shine, so dig out your neon colours, maybe your shoulder pads, your leg warmers or dress up as your favourite 80s character! Could you be Batman, the Joker or perhaps even Superman! Maybe The Ghostbusters, Willy Wonka or even Madonna! There are so many to choose from, it will be hard to decide! Our trusty Crew will be there to guide you along the way and will help to choose the winner of the Best Costume prize! We have been delighted at the response to the call out for Crew again this year. The teenagers involved in the Crew play an invaluable role during the Festival and we look forward to their able assistance, knowing that they will do a fantastic job! The ‘Iconic 80s’ theme will also run through our Scarecrow Trail and our Sandcastle Competition, so lots of potential to get creative!

Highlights this year include the MASSAOKE, Cammy Barnes and King Creosote! What a line-up! We strongly advise buying tickets in advance because these are not to be missed! Larry Dean is here to entertain us on Comedy Night, it’s going to be a great night!

We are delighted that Jenny Colgan and Ian Rankin will be headlining the talks programme and we are very much looking forward to giving them a warm welcome during festival week.

A big thank you goes to the businesses and individuals who have sponsored events, donated funds or given up their valuable time to ensure that the festival is successful, to the shops, hotels, restaurants and pubs for their support, and to our talented sports people, local artists, musicians and performers who make it all possible.

Please take time to look through the programme and visit our website. We thank you all once again for your support and encouragement and we look forward to seeing you all during the festival.
