SUMMARY:Aberdour SOUP: The Big Community Pitch
DESCRIPTION:What happens when you combine a bowl of soup with a £6\,000 community fund? You get Aberdour SOUP: The Big Community Pitch! \nAs part of the Aberdour Community Action Plan\, local groups\, clubs and individuals are invited to pitch their best “Quick Win” ideas – projects that can make a positive difference in our village. \nInspired by a community-led micro-funding model used in Dundee and communities around the world\, Aberdour SOUP puts funding decisions in the hands of local people. During the event\, you will hear a series of short project pitches while enjoying a free bowl of soup provided by The Aberdour Bistro. Entry is free\, but tickets must be booked in advance. \nEvery attendee gets a vote\, and the £6\,000 funding pot will be shared between the winning projects! Come along for good food\, great ideas and a chance to help shape the future of Aberdour. Together\, we can turn community ideas into community action. \nFor more information on the event visit Aberdour CAP website or contact Aberdour CAP at aberdourcap@gmail.com

SUMMARY:A Blether and a Bevvy with Lucy Ribchester
DESCRIPTION:18th century Edinburgh’s Music Scene: from High Society to Murder Ballads \nJoin author and former Aberdour local Lucy Ribchester for a journey into the glittering and grisly world of 18th century Edinburgh\, the setting for her latest novel Murder Ballad. With a heady mix of camp and high drama\, the novel tells the story of a street ballad singer’s rise into high society\, and the notorious murder she sings of. \nDelve into the real life locations and historical figures who inspired the book. Learn about St Cecilia’s hall\, once home to the Edinburgh Musical Society\, where the famous castrato Tenducci performed\, and about the gory tradition of murder ballads and execution ballads\, sung and sold in the streets outside. \nLucy Ribchester was born in Edinburgh and grew up in Aberdour. She has written three historical novels\, The Hourglass Factory\, The Amber Shadows and Murder Ballad\, and two contemporary thrillers under the name Elle Connel. \nShe won a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award in 2013 and in 2015 The Hourglass Factory was nominated for the Historical Writers Association Debut Crown. Her short fiction has been shortlisted for the Costa Short Story Award and Manchester Fiction Prize. She is currently a Royal Literary Fund Fellow at the University of Edinburgh.

SUMMARY:Robert Burns - Untold Stories & Unsung Songs
DESCRIPTION:Alastair Turnbull takes a fresh look at the life of Robert Burns. He talks about Robert as if he is a friend he hasn’t seen for a while rather than a distant historical figure\, bringing Robert to life in a modern world. Expect fun stories and explanations as he talks about Robert’s poems\, travels\, and loves. Add in a few songs\, maybe a joke or two\, the easiest quiz you’ll ever take part in\, and you can begin to see what to expect. \nCome along\, listen\, laugh\, and maybe even learn some Burns facts to impress your friends.

SUMMARY:A Blether and a Bevvy - Arthur Lloyd - Aberdour – A Walk Through History
DESCRIPTION:We invite you\, from the comfort of your seat\, on a filmed walk through the village of Aberdour\, where every street\, building and boundary tells a story. As we explore\, Arthur Lloyd uncovers how centuries of daily life have shaped the village’s character\, from its earliest origins to the community you see today. \nThe layout of roads\, the position of homes\, and the marks left by landowners\, communities and industry all reveal a living history formed over hundreds of years. By looking closely and moving at walking pace\, Arthur explores how the past continues to influence the present in this quietly evolving village.
